Calcotada 2022!

Morito Exmouth is continuing the festive spirit into the New Year by celebrating Catalonia's famous onion festival, the Calcotada!

The Gran Fiesta de la Calcotada is returning to Morito Exmouth Market, with a special menu to celebrate the harvest of the Calcot! In Valls, the epicentre of the Calcotada, large bunches of this Catalan onion, fresh from the earth, are grilled over an open fire until charred then wrapped in newspaper. Served on terracotta tiles, the calcots are peeled with bare hands, then dunked in rich romesco sauce made from almonds and peppers, and devoured. True to the Catalonian spirit, it is a great excuse to get together, talk, party and more importantly eat onions!

We've put together a special four-course menu, which you can wash down with plenty of wine and vermouth, starting with an El Bandarra Rojo! The most traditional midday drink among friends in Barcelona, El Bandarra Rojo is a smooth, appetising vermouth with a perfect bitter-sweet balance. Served over ice, with a slice of seasonal blood orange.

For £40 per head, Morito diners can experience a taste of the Gran Fiesta de la Calcotada in Exmouth Market!
