It's International Sherry Week from the 2nd until the 8th of November, and that’s our favourite time of year!

To share in our great love of sherry we have a complimentary glass of Domecq Manzanilla, courtesy of Gonzales Byass, for every reservation made for that week!

+HOME: Supporting Homerton Hospital

We thought you might like to know what we’ve been up to during lockdown.

+HOME is an initiative set up by four friends from East London: artists Fiona Banner and Melanie Manchot, designer Nina Tolstrup and Sam Clark, from Moro and Morito restaurants.

Their aim is to support their local Homerton Hospital during the COVID-19 crisis, and with the help and expertise of some amazing volunteer chefs from restaurants – Lucky and Joy, Moro and Morito – +HOME now delivers 120 delicious and nourishing hot meals, four days a week to frontline staff most in need of good food and moral support after a physically and emotionally exhausting shift.

One young nurse said: “You just made the end of my day so much better. I can go home now and sleep, no need to stand in line and go shopping.”

The meals are varied, vegetarian and always nutritious. The first week we cooked Ribollita, a hearty Tuscan vegetable and bean soup, then Koshari – a popular Egyptian street food of lentils, rice, chickpeas, pasta, tomato and red chilli salsa. Lucky & Joy served a delicious Aubergine Rice Bowl, then Tarka Daal, Pilau Rice and Courgette Pakora, the list goes on!

From Jude Williams, deputy chair of Homerton Hospital: “On behalf us all, we are so grateful to the +HOME team for producing gorgeous, freshly made food for our frontline staff”.

Calcotada 2020!

Morito Exmouth is continuing the festive spirit into the New Year by celebrating Catalonia's famous onion festival, the Calcotada!

The Gran Fiesta de la Calcotada is returning to Morito Exmouth Market every Sunday in February with a special menu to celebrate the harvest of the Calcot! In Valls, the epicentre of the Calcotada, large bunches of this Catalan onion, fresh from the earth, are grilled over an open fire until charred then wrapped in newspaper. Served on terracotta tiles, the calcots are peeled with bare hands, then dunked in rich romesco sauce made from almonds and peppers, and devoured. True to the Catalonian spirit, it is a great excuse to get together, talk, party and more importantly eat onions! We are sending the Morito team to Valls to experience the Fiesta first hand so they can bring back tales and images while you enjoy our delicious Menu del Calcot washed down with plenty of wine and vermouth.
